Application Instructions for the AIBS Bangla Language Fellowship Program

Eligibility Verification:

  • Confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria for the program (academic status, professional need, language level).
  • Clearly state your language proficiency level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) in your application.

Required Application Materials:

  • Completed Application Form
  • Statement of Purpose (500–750 words): Explain your academic/professional goals, reasons for studying Bangla, and how this program aligns with your future plans.
  • Current CV/Resume: Include academic history, language experience, and relevant work or research experience.
  • Official Transcripts: From your current or most recent institution.
  • Letters of Recommendation (2): At least one from an academic advisor or faculty member who can either comment on your current language proficiency or need for learning the language. 
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship: A scanned copy of your passport.
  • Optional: Documentation for any disability accommodations requested.

Deadlines:

  • Application Deadline: May 28, 2026
  • Recommendation Letters Deadline: May 28, 2026

Selection Process:

  • Applications will be reviewed based on academic merit, motivation, and alignment with program goals.

Funding and Financial Aid:

  • Indicate if you are applying for AIBS financial aid in the application form.
  • List any external funding you have applied for (e.g., FLAS Fellowships).
