[Cambodia] CKS Senior Fellowship Program 2027 - 2028
Opens Oct 1 2026 12:00 AM (EDT)
Deadline Feb 28 2027 11:59 AM (EST)
Description

The Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) provides in-country research fellowships for Cambodian scholars and doctoral students on a yearly basis.

CKS Senior Fellows are given direct funding for their research, access to in-country resources, and provided with logistical support and contacts while in-country.

These fellowships are open to scholars who already hold a PhD degree in all disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities who seek to pursue further research focusing on Cambodia alone or on Cambodia within a comparative regional (including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, and southern China) or wider international context, provided that some portion of their research is undertaken in Cambodia.

Two Categories of Senior Fellowships

  • Long-Term Research Fellowships: These fellowships are available for 6 to 11 months of research.
  • Short-Term Research Fellowships: These fellowships are available for up to 4 months of research.

Prior recipients of any CKS fellowship may reapply for a CKS Research Fellowship only after a full three-year period has elapsed from the completion date of their previous CKS Research Fellowship (upon fulfillment of all fellowship requirements) to the application deadline of the current fellowship.

The Selection Committee will assess each application on the basis of the candidate’s submitted project description, their academic and/or professional record, and the quality of their references. Because members of the Selection Committee represent different academic disciplines, applicants must explain the nature and significance of their projects in terms understandable to a non-specialist audience.
